Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced on Friday that the travel time between Nagpur and Pune will be reduced to six hours upon the completion of the redeveloped Pune-Ahmednagar-Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad) corridor and a new greenfield six-lane expressway.

Currently, the journey takes eight hours via the Samruddhi Mahamarg. Speaking during the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and the Public Works Department (PWD).

Gadkari emphasized the need for efficient logistic parks and the development of industrial clusters along both highways.

The Union minister highlighted the role of the Pune-Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar highway in fostering economic and industrial development in the region. He urged Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to focus on setting up logistic parks and industrial clusters to harness the revenue potential of these roads, estimated to be around Rs 100 crore for the government.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Friday via X (formerly Twitter) that the travel time between Nagpur and Pune would soon be reduced to six hours upon the completion of the redeveloped Pune-Ahmednagar-Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad) corridor of NH-753F and the establishment of a new greenfield six-lane expressway.

Gadkari also shared eco-friendly practices employed in road construction, such as using 80 lakh tonnes of garbage in roads and water conservation initiatives. This development is part of the government’s broader initiative to enhance transportation infrastructure, reduce travel time between major cities, and spur economic growth in the region.

Gadkari expressed confidence that these projects would significantly improve connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and contribute to the economic development of the state.
