The garden, to be named after the chief minister Eknath Shinde, is in Hadapsar area which falls under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) jurisdiction. Former corporator of Shiv Sena Pramod Bhangire inaugurated the event, though it was initially planned to the inaugurated by CM Shinde.

Bhangire is said to have constructed the park in the Hadapsar area by mobilising funds.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Pramod Bangire said, “It was my idea to name the park after the CM. I had been religiously working to construct this park, which was earlier a barren land where citizens used to drink liquor and create nuisance.”

He further said, “The suggestions to name the park was asked. I had requested the administration to name this park after MLA Eknath Shinde but at that time, my term as a corporator expired. Therefore, the proposal was not passed or approved unanimously.”

Bhangire said that he turned a barren land into a park for the benefit of residents in the area.
