Heading to Mumbai or Nagpur via Samruddhi Expressway? Know the Toll Rates First
Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway Toll Hiked in Phases, Final Rates Effective Until Dec 2032
The 701-km Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg India’s ambitious expressway connecting Mumbai and Nagpur is now fully operational, following the inauguration of its final stretch between Igatpuri (Nashik district) and Amane (Thane district).
With this final leg complete, the Maharashtra government has issued revised toll rates for all vehicle categories, effective until December 10, 2032. These rates were notified by the state’s Public Works Department (PWD) on June 4, 2025, and will be rolled out in three phases.
Mumbai-Nagpur Travel Time Slashed Thanks to New High-Speed Expressway
The newly completed Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg has significantly reduced travel time between Mumbai and Nagpur to just seven hours, revolutionizing long-distance travel across Maharashtra. The 701-km greenfield expressway enables quicker, smoother, and safer connectivity across key regions in the state.
Amane to Igatpuri in 40 Minutes
Travel time between Amane and Igatpuri has also been cut in half — now just a 40-minute drive, offering a huge relief to regular commuters.
Mega Infrastructure Investment
Built at a cost of ₹55,335 crore, the expressway is one of India’s most ambitious infrastructure projects. It required the acquisition of more than 8,800 hectares of land from around 24,000 farmers across 10 districts.
Entry Points for Mumbai Commuters
- The expressway begins at Amane in Thane district, which is accessible from Mumbai in just over two hours.
- Travellers from Mumbai and Navi Mumbai can access the expressway via Bhiwandi, near Shangrila Water Park, through the existing Mumbai-Nashik Highway.
- Motorists joining at Ghoti can now skip the steep Kasara Ghat climb on the old Mumbai-Nashik route and instead enjoy a new elevated route with a gentle 160-metre rise.
Toll Rate Hike Timeline
- Phase 1: Effective from April 1, 2025
- Phase 2: Applicable from April 1, 2028
- Phase 3: Final hike from April 2031 till December 10, 2032

Future Plans
During the inauguration, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also announced plans to link the Samruddhi Mahamarg to the upcoming Vadhavan Port in Palghar district, further enhancing its economic potential.
Why It Matters
The Samruddhi Mahamarg is expected to drastically cut travel time between Mumbai and Nagpur to under 8 hours and improve logistics and trade across Maharashtra. However, commuters and transporters must now factor in the increased toll rates as part of their travel costs.
