Heritage walk at SPPU resumes

Pune citizens to get the chance of revisit the historical monuments at Heritage Walk at Savitribai Phule Pune University resumes.

The Heritage Walk at Savitribai Phule Pune University was on hold due to the Covid19 pandemic. But on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the historic main building recently, the Heritage Walk resumed on the occasion of Savitribai Phule’s Memorial Day (March 10).

Savitribai Phule Pune University started Heritage Walk in 2018 with a view to inform people about the historical importance of the main building, the cave, museums, the bio diversity of the SPPU campus, and other important places within the campus. Till date, thousands of citizens as well as dignitaries from various fields have visited this Heritage Walk and learned about the history of the University.

On the memorial day of Savitribai Phule, by saluting her work,on behalf of three departments, the Department of History, Department of Anthropology and Media Co-ordinating Room, Under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar, the journey of this Heritage Walk, which was stopped for some time, is starting again.

On the occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr. Nitin Karmalkar, Professor Chancellor N S Umrani and Registrar Dr. Praful Pawar and Rajendra Holani, former member secretary of Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran Mandal, were present for the Heritage Walk. The walk will start from D V Potdar Sankul. This Heritage Walk is open to all citizens.
