What initially appeared to be routine movement in a quiet, upscale residential complex in Pune has now turned into a disturbing revelation. Behind the doors of a seemingly ordinary apartment, authorities uncovered activities that left even seasoned officers taken aback. A steady stream of male visitors and the presence of foreign nationals ultimately triggered a police intervention that exposed a larger illegal operation.

The incident took place in the Porwal Road area of Lohegaon, inside the well-known Durva Heritage housing society. Residents had begun noticing an unusual pattern over recent days, with unfamiliar men frequently visiting Flat No. 403. Given the locality’s reputation as a premium residential zone, suspicions were initially minimal. However, Lohegaon police received reliable intelligence indicating that the apartment was being used for prostitution.

Acting swiftly on this information, a police team conducted a planned raid on Wednesday, April 15, at around 7:45 PM. Upon entering the flat, officers found two women from Uganda. Preliminary investigations revealed that the women had allegedly been lured under false promises of money and were being coerced into sex work. Both women were rescued during the operation.

The police have arrested Nampizza Ritah (39), a Ugandan national believed to be the key figure behind managing the racket. In addition, the flat owner, Rupesh Ramesh Piwal (40), a resident of Wanowrie, has also been booked. Authorities allege that he knowingly allowed his property to be used for illegal activities in exchange for financial gain.

During the raid, officials seized cash amounting to ₹64,600, along with mobile phones, passports, and other important documents from the premises. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Manisha Patil of Lohegaon Police Station.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway to determine whether more individuals are connected to this network.
