Traffic movement across Hinjewadi, Wakad, and surrounding areas in Pimpri-Chinchwad will be significantly affected on April 2, 2026, due to the annual Bagad- Procession. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police have announced a comprehensive diversion plan as thousands of devotees are expected to participate in the traditional Bagad procession.

  • Vehicles near Datta Mandir Road should reroute via Utkarsh Chowk diversions
  • Commuters from Wakad Y-Junction should proceed towards Kalewadi Phata
  • Traffic near Sayaji Underpass must shift to the main highway

Hinjewadi–Wakad Corridor Advisory

The busy Hinjewadi to Wakad stretch will see heavy restrictions due to the procession route. Vehicles travelling between IT hubs and residential pockets are advised to use:

  • Laxmi Chowk
  • Bhumkar Chowk
  • Shivaji Chowk
  • Wakadgaon Marg

These routes will act as key alternatives during peak restriction hours.

Sangvi And Pimple Gurav Restrictions

Due to another procession in Pimple Gurav, additional restrictions will be in place:

  • Datta Mandir Chowk to Pimple Gurav Kaman – CLOSED

Alternate route:

  • Vehicles should divert via Bank of Maharashtra road towards Shivganesh Chowk

Police Appeal To Citizens

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vivek Patil has urged citizens to strictly follow the diversion plan and cooperate with authorities.

Officials have emphasised that these arrangements are necessary to ensure smooth traffic flow and avoid disruption during the religious procession.

What You Should Plan

Commuters travelling through Hinjewadi, Wakad, or Sangvi on April 2 should avoid peak hours, plan routes in advance, and rely on the designated diversions.

With major IT routes affected, early planning and route changes will be crucial to avoid delays and congestion during the yatra.
