Nagpur – In a shocking incident at Venkatesnagar Chowk, a minor driving a car crashed into five individuals, including a couple and several street vendors. The driver, identified as the son of a BJP worker, has been detained following the accident.

Around 1 pm on Saturday, the minor lost control of the vehicle, hitting a two-wheeler and subsequently three vendors at a roadside vegetable market. The victims, Mahendra Agarwal, Vandana Agarwal, Basanti Gond, Golu Sahu, and Karthik, were immediately taken to nearby hospitals.

Eyewitnesses reported the car finally stopped after colliding with a tree. Enraged locals apprehended the minor, inflicting physical retribution before police arrived.

A police team, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, quickly restored order and detained the driver. Initial investigations suggest a tyre burst as the cause, and a case of accident has been registered by the Nandanvan police.

The car owner, Mangesh Gomashe, who allegedly handed over the keys to the minor, and Mahesh Gonnade, the garage owner who compelled the minor to drive, have both been detained.

This incident has heightened concerns over road safety and legal accountability, adding to a series of recent hit-and-run cases in Maharashtra. The community awaits the investigation’s outcome and the legal actions against those responsible.
