“आता मला कसलीच भीती नाही,” Amol Balwadkar Reacts to BJP Ticket Denial
Baner: Former corporator and Nationalist Congress Party candidate Amol Balwadkar has broken his silence on the sudden denial of a BJP ticket, describing the episode as a deeply painful moment in his political journey and a blow to honest grassroots workers.
Speaking in a detailed interview with Sakal Media, Balwadkar said he had worked sincerely for the Bharatiya Janata Party for over a decade and had stepped aside earlier during the Assembly elections after being assured of a future opportunity in the municipal corporation. He recalled that senior leaders had personally promised him a chance, but no reason was given when his candidature was abruptly rejected just hours before the nomination deadline. Balwadkar said the manner in which the decision was communicated left him feeling abandoned. He stated that even a respectful explanation would have brought closure, but instead he was left with no option at the last moment. Describing the experience as a betrayal, he said it felt like his entire political career was put at stake despite years of loyal work. Within minutes of the BJP decision becoming public, Balwadkar received a call from Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who offered him candidature from the Nationalist Congress Party. Balwadkar said the support and respect he received stood in sharp contrast to his recent experience. He added that Pawar acknowledged his work over the years and immediately handed him the nomination form.
Addressing concerns about changing party symbols, Balwadkar said his connection with voters goes beyond any symbol. He expressed confidence that people would vote for work and credibility rather than party labels.
Balwadkar also raised concerns about the treatment of several former BJP corporators whose tickets were denied without dialogue or dignity. He said many grassroots workers feel sidelined despite playing key roles during elections, COVID-19 relief, and daily civic work.
Reiterating his belief in competition and ambition in politics, Balwadkar said dreaming of growth should never be treated as a mistake. He appealed to voters to support candidates who work on the ground, regardless of party affiliation, and emphasized that his political journey will continue under the leadership of Ajit Pawar with the same commitment to public service.
