Illegal Encroachments Removed Near Shivajinagar Civil Court Metro Station by Pune Municipal Corporation and Metro Teams
Under the chairmanship of MP Murlidhar Mohol, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Government of India, and in the presence of Chandrakant Patil, Maharashtra’s Minister for Higher and Technical Education, a meeting was held on 04/01/2025 at the Pune Municipal Corporation’s new administrative building. The meeting discussed the removal of unauthorized hawkers and encroachments. Following the discussion, the Municipal Commissioner and Administrator of Pune Municipal Corporation issued orders to take action against encroachments.
Encroachment Action Details:
Approximately 50 unauthorized huts had been constructed on Metro land near Dengle Bridge at Shivajinagar Civil Court Metro Station over the past few months. Pune Metro had formally requested PMC to remove these encroachments.
On 16/01/2025, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Avinash Sakpal (Zone 2) and supervision of Assistant Commissioner Govind Dangat (Shivajinagar-Ghole Road Regional Office), a team comprising:
- – PMC engineers (sub-engineers and junior engineers)
- – 4 GVN department staff
- – 4 police inspectors, 15 PSIs, 78 constables, and 50 security officials
- – Metro staff, led by Chief Project Manager Amolkumar Moholkar.
jointly conducted the encroachment removal operation. The team worked between 5:30 AM and 10:00 AM to clear the unauthorized structures and handed over the recovered material, including wooden sheets, pigeon coops, and tin roofs, to the Metro department.
Resources Utilized:
- – 2 JCBs, 6 Tempo Trucks, 1 Hydra Crane and 40 Laborers
The operation involved one regional encroachment inspector, two encroachment inspectors, and five assistant encroachment inspectors along with eight labor staff.
This action highlights the effective collaboration between Pune Municipal Corporation and Pune Metro to ensure public spaces remain encroachment-free and accessible.
