IMD issues red alert for Pune district

Pune: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the Pune district for the next three days from Saturday, July 9, 2022.

From 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Shivaji Nagar received 13.3 mm of rain while Pashan (18.1mm), Lohegaon (24.6mm) Chinchwad (31.0mm), Lavale (27.5mm) and Magarpatta (11.5 mm) respectively.

Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Satara, Pune and Nashik Ghat areas along with Konkan, Goa and adjoining Central Maharashtra. In Marathwada, many villages have lost contact due to heavy rains.

The district administration has been asked to be ready to face any disaster.

As a precautionary measure for flood relief and rescue operations, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 17 squads across Maharashtra.

In the last 12 hours (7 am to 7 pm) in Pune city, 20 tree falling incidents were recorded and the calf was rescued from the river bed near Deccan Gymkhana. In all these cases, there are no injuries or deaths.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has asked all the district collectors in the affected districts to remain on high alert and move people to safer places if needed.
