An error as small as an incorrect date of birth on your Aadhaar card can lead to major problems during identity verification or while applying for government services and benefits.

Your Aadhaar card, issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), is a vital document for activities like getting a mobile SIM, opening a bank account, or accessing government schemes. Since UIDAI allows only one update to the date of birth per individual, it’s important to correct it carefully.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to update your date of birth:

1. Visit a Nearby Aadhaar Enrolment Center
Locate your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra and visit in person.

2. Fill Out the Update Form
Request the Aadhaar update/correction form. Fill it out with the correct date of birth and attach a valid supporting document.

3. Submit the Form and Biometric Details
Submit the form along with biometric authentication (fingerprint or iris scan).

4. Pay the Correction Fee
A fee of ₹50 is charged for processing the update.

5. Collect the Acknowledgment Slip
After submitting, you’ll receive an acknowledgment slip with a unique Update Request Number (URN) to track your application online.

6. Wait for the Update
Once the details are verified, your updated Aadhaar card will be available for download from the UIDAI website.
