Independence Day Protest: Visually Impaired Man Takes A Stand Against PCMC Neglect, Breaks Commissioners’ Car Window
Pimpri-Chinchwad, August 15, 2024: In a bold and desperate move, Vinayak Sopan Owhal, a visually impaired individual, shattered the glass of PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh’s official vehicle during the Independence Day celebrations. This shocking act of protest was a culmination of Owhal’s frustration and anger towards the commissioner’s persistent neglect of his demands.
Owhal, who has been fighting for benefits under the Ramai Awas Yojana, alleged that the PCMC has been ignoring his pleas for assistance. Moreover, he claimed that the corporation has been targeting stalls owned by visually impaired and disabled individuals during anti-encroachment drives.
With his patience worn thin, Owhal decided to take matters into his own hands. “I have been ignored and neglected for far too long,” he said. “If the PCMC continues to disregard our demands, we will be forced to take more drastic measures, even if it means setting fire to the commissioner’s vehicle.”
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the need for greater attention to the concerns of the disabled community. Commissioner Shekhar Singh’s silence on the matter has only added fuel to the fire, leaving many wondering if the PCMC is truly committed to serving all its citizens.
As the situation unfolds, one thing is clear: Vinayak Sopan Owhal’s protest is a wake-up call for the PCMC to take immediate action and address the grievances of the disabled community.”
