Indian Passengers Stranded for 13+ Hours at Kuwait Airport After Emergency Landing
Over 60 passengers flying from Mumbai to Manchester via Gulf Air were stranded at Kuwait International Airport for more than 13 hours following an emergency landing caused by an engine fire. Passengers reported severe neglect, including lack of food, seating, and assistance. Allegations of discrimination emerged, with claims that only EU, UK, and US travelers were given accommodations, while others were left on the terminal floor.
Videos circulating online show heated exchanges between passengers and airport authorities, while Gulf Air has yet to address the incident. Passengers, including Arzoo Singh, described the chaos and uncertainty as they awaited further updates, despite contacting the Indian embassy and requesting help.
The Indian Embassy in Kuwait responded on its X handle. Embassy has been informed by Gulf Air that the flight for stranded passengers from Kuwait to Manchester is tentatively scheduled at 3.30 am on 2 Dec. This is being conveyed to all passengers by the Embassy team at the airport. It may be noted that Indian nationals do not fall under Visa on arrival facility in Kuwait. All government offices are closed today due to GCC Summit being hosted by Kuwait.
