To reduce the congestion on Salunke Vihar road, the Pune City Traffic Police decided to ban entry for heavy vehicles from ABC Farms chowk to Samvidhan chowk and vice versa.

Adjustable height barrier will bring a difference so that heavy vehicles such as fire brigade, garbage pick up trucks, water tankers can travel without any disturbance in case of emergency.

Lekhaji Shinde, ATI, Kondhwa Traffic Police said, “A study will be conducted on this road on how we can decongest the road. For time being, no parking, P1, P2 boards, limited parking areas boards are being installed and action shall be taken against those found violating the rules.”

Mariam Kanthawala, a local resident said, “There are autostands on four different sides of the road. At the time of emergency none of these autodrivers come. We want only authorised auto stand in the area. Hope our demand is fulfilled.”

Sanjay Mane, founder president of Gurunanak society association said, “To decongest the road further we have informed the police department to take strict action. Also, we have informed Nanda Lonkar about relocating the hawkers to the bhaji mandai.”

Nanda Lonkar who was present for the meeting assured all help in resolving issues of the local residents.
