Pimple Saudagar, over the years have been facing water logging issue during monsoon. The important roads like Kunal Icon Road have remained affected during every monsoon, restricting the flow of traffic and nearly obstructing the road with knee length water logged from entering drainage.
The smart city cell has been working on various projects, and most importantly, cleaning the drainages since the PCMC Commissioner, Rajesh Patil inspected the drainage sites and ordered to de-clog. In Pimple Saudagar, the work has begun on priority. Various machineries are being roped in to inspect the water pipelines without having to dig the road.

Area ex corporator, Nana Kate, while talking to Pune Pulse said, “Advanced machineries are being used to clear drainage pipelines. Nearly, 70% of the Pimple Saudagar is covered with concrete roads, and storm water pipelines adjoining by side. We are working alongside smart city officials and helping them understand the problems faced by the region every year. This year, we are expecting no such water logging issue, especially at Kunal Icon Road. I am personally following up with the officials on the work.”

Area ex corporator Shatrughan Kate from BJP said, “We are inspecting the sites and guiding the officials to get the work done on priority. Storm water pipelines are being cleaned to ensure no problem during monsoon this year.”

Smart city official, Tanaji Chavan, while talking to Pulse said, “The problem faced by Kunal Icon road won’t repeat hereafter. The backside road that passes towards Spot – 18 are fitted with large storm water pipelines. The problem will be eradicated in the long-run. For now, from Rahatani to Shivar Chowk, the drainage is being cleaned with the help of suction machine. Today, Shivar chowk – Kunal Icon road will be cleaned. With this, we can expect the work to complete the work within 10 days.”
