Jan Samvad Sabha – a citizen friendly platform to raise local issues

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation now has an administrator who is looking after the development projects in the city. To bridge the gap between the citizens and the administration, PCMC Commissioner and administrator Rajesh Patil informed that all eight regional ward offices will have Jan Samvadh Sabha on every Monday.

The first such Sabha was held on 21 March, 2022 across all the eight wards. Even D ward saw the presence of the officials as well as citizens. The meeting was held in the presence of Additional Commissioner Vikas Dhakane, Ajay Charthankar, Deputy Commissioner, Social justice and Welfare department. For the meeting all the ward officers, and other department officials were present.

Totally 19 statements were received, regarding health, water distribution, civil construction, Encroachment, etc. Concerned officers were given instructions to look into this issue, and have asked to do a site visit. By the next meeting the officials have to submit the report of the work.

“Today was the first meeting of the Jan Samvad Sabha. We received 19 complaints on different issues faced by the residents. People from Rahatani area raise the concern of unequal water distribution. Three – four issues were on encroachment, some issues were on slums and health. We have given instructions to concerned department officers to look into the raised issues, and have asked them to submit a report before the next meeting, ‘ said Ajay Charthankar, Deputy Commissioner, Social Justice and Welfare department, PCMC.
