Pune: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya has filed a complaint with Pune Police at Shivaji Nagar police station has been filed against Lifeline Hospital, a management services company, for criminal conspiracy and mismanagement resulting in damages and deaths of COVID-19 patients.

The complaint, filed by BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, alleges that the hospital, under the control of Sujit Patkar, was awarded a contract by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to run the Pune Shivajinagar Jumbo COVID Centre, despite not meeting the required qualifications.

According to the complaint, the contract was awarded to Lifeline Hospital based on a single stereotyped presentation, and the PMRDA failed to investigate the company’s previous records before awarding the contract. Within a few days of the hospital taking over the facility, there were reports of mismanagement and deaths of patients due to the lack of specialized doctors and paramedical staff.

As a result, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) issued orders to PMRDA to take action against Lifeline Hospital, and on September 9, 2020, the contract was cancelled, and the company was blacklisted. The complaint alleges that Sujit Patkar knowingly and with malafide interest made financial gains by cheating the authority with the help of fabricated and forged documents, while playing with the lives of poor people and misappropriating funds from the Maharashtra state government.

Speaking about the complaint, Kirit Somaiya stated, “Sanjay Raut’s partner Sujit Patkar’s Lifeline Hospital Company was given the contract of Jumbo Covid centre which company was not in existence. During which three patients had died and 100 had permanent damage.” He further added that he has requested the Pune Police to register a complaint, which has been registered with the Mumbai Police, and he will be following up on the case after seven days with the Pune Police.
