Justice Shriram Modak launches book published by Geetanjali Social Foundation in Pune

Pune: Shriram Modak, Justice at Bombay High Court, along with Justice Kalidas Nandedkar and Justice Sunil Vedpathak, District and Session Judge Pune, and Sonal Patil, Secretary, District Legal Service Authority Pune (DLSA), launched a book published by Geetanjali Social Foundation at a programme held at DY Patil Auditorium in collaboration with the district legal service authority for a state-level street play competition on mediation.
Modak was the chief guest of the programme, and while addressing the audience, he emphasized the importance of mediation before directly going to court and pursuing litigation. He said it is the need of the hour, and mediation can save time and money and give win-win solutions. Thereafter, the book was launched by Sriram Modak, Justice Nandedkar, Justice Ved Pathak, and Sonali Patil, along with Advocate Vikas Dhage Patil, Advocate Rohan Nahar, President of the Pune Bar Association, Advocate Ketan Kothawale, Advocate Vivek Bhargude, and Advocate Kumar Paigude.
The Geetanjali Social Foundation has published the book, which provides comprehensive information and guidance on legal literacy and mental health issues, which are critical for overall development, especially in current times.
Advocate Geetanjali Kadate, founder of the Geetanjali Social Foundation, said she believes education is the vehicle for social change, and by empowering each individual, we can empower the whole nation. Working like this creates a larger social impact. This book is a compilation of articles written by various advocates, counsellors, journalists, and police inspectors regarding various issues related to legal and mental health and solutions thereof in the day-to-day lives of people.
The NGO is committed to making determined efforts to bring socio-legal awareness to society by providing effective legal literacy, skills, and representation, advancing human dignity, social welfare, and access to justice for all, and educating people in protecting and implementing their rights by taking the necessary steps and precautions for a safe, crime-free, and litigation-free life. The NGO is also focused on creating awareness for psychological well-being through counselling and addressing issues regarding mental health.
The foundation has conducted various sessions on good touch, bad touch, Pocso, protection of women from various crimes, cyber laws, and prevention of sexual harassment at work. The sessions are interactive. In today’s times, it is very important to raise awareness in the community for greater social impact.
Adv. Pushpa Kamthe, trustee of the Geetanjali Social Foundation, said awareness is very important, and these initiatives will ensure a safe environment for all people, especially women and children, to come forward and report any wrong incident happening to them. Awareness programmes for parents to have an understanding of the issues are also very necessary, as is communication with their children.
