Pune: Punekars will soon get relief from the traffic congestion at Katraj Chowk as the work of the Katraj flyover is scheduled to be completed in six months i.e. March 2024.

Dhananjay Deshpande, Executive Engineer, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said, “Our endeavour is to complete the flyover work speedily and on time. During construction, the work for the initial phase takes a lot of time. The latter work is completed at speed. Now, the pillar work has been completed and the girder work is going on in Katraj Ghat. Therefore, the work of the flyover will be completed in time.”

As per information, it was decided to construct a flyover to permanently solve the traffic jam at Katraj Chowk. Its Bhumi Poojan took place on September 24 2021. The work of the bridge is going on by the NHAI. Traffic going from Ranwale Bridge to Kondhwa will go directly from Wonder City to Rajas Society via flyover without coming to Katraj Chowk.

If traffic at the square goes over the bridge, the queues around the PMPML bus stand or Katraj Mandai or along Satara Road and Wonder City will be reduced. As a result, the problem of traffic in Katraj and Rajas Chowk will be solved. If there is space for PMPML bus stands, passengers will not have to face any problems.

This bridge is passing through the Rajiv Gandhi Zoo, the central government has sanctioned a fund of Rs 169 crores and 15 lakhs for this work. This bridge has six tiers and its length is 1,326 meters. Citizens are demanding that the work of the bridge should be completed on time and the NHAI should speed up the work to relieve the citizens of the area from the traffic jam.
