PUNE: It has been brought to attention that the Municipal Corporation, under the approval of the Commissioner, has sanctioned a file for the rehabilitation of Sarasbaug Khaugalli. In light of this, the municipal administration will be filing a police complaint and initiating a new file.

As per the information provided, the presence of stalls on both sides of the entrance to Sarasbaug has caused inconvenience to citizens visiting the area. The Municipal Corporation has allocated space for 56 licensed food stalls outside the northern entrance for business purposes. However, these stalls have been subject to encroachment due to increased construction.

A few months ago, the Municipal Corporation had sealed Khaugalli to resolve the dispute. The administration has now decided to create a walking plaza at Khaugalli. Accordingly, the 56 food stalls in Khaugalli will be relocated along the Sanas Maidan wall. The revised plan has been prepared by the Municipal Corporation in consultation with professionals.

A parking lot capable of accommodating at least 500 vehicles will be developed in the parking area adjacent to Peshwa Park. After receiving approval from Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, the file was sent to the Construction Department for feedback. However, the file has gone missing.

Deputy Commissioner Madhav Jagtap has stated that a new file will be prepared after filing a police complaint in this matter. The loss of such an important file has caused surprise and concern.
