Katraj-Kondhwa Flyover to be Named After Former RSS Chief Balasaheb Deoras
The Maharashtra state cabinet has approved a proposal to name the ongoing Katraj-Kondhwa flyover project in Pune after the late Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief, Balasaheb Deoras. The decision was confirmed on Thursday.
The Pune Vaidyakiya Seva and Sanshodhan Sanstha had initially put forth the request to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to honor the former RSS leader by naming the flyover after him.
Currently, the flyover is still under construction. The naming proposal came at a time when the PMC has no elected members, and Rajendra Bhosale, the municipal commissioner, was responsible for approving it. Following his approval, the proposal was sent to the state government for final consent, which was granted by the cabinet on Thursday.
Balasaheb Deoras served as the third Sarsanghchalak of the RSS, a significant figure in the organization’s history. His name now stands to be memorialized through this major infrastructure project in Pune, reflecting the support of local organizations like the Pune Vaidyakiya Seva and Sanshodhan Sanstha.
The Katraj-Kondhwa flyover is a key development project aimed at improving traffic flow in the rapidly growing areas of Pune. Once completed, it is expected to significantly reduce congestion in the region.
This approval marks a major step in honoring a prominent figure in the history of the RSS while advancing a critical infrastructure project for Pune’s future.
