Pune, May 15, 2026: Residents of Kausar Baug in Kondhwa Khurd have submitted a formal complaint to the Health Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), opposing permission for a temporary bakra (goat) market proposed in the area ahead of Bakri Eid celebrations.

The complaint, submitted by the Kausar Baug Residents Forum, has been addressed to the Health Officer of PMC’s Regional Office in Shivajinagar. Residents from several nearby housing societies have supported the objection letter.

According to the complaint, a private open space in Kausar Baug has reportedly been used for setting up temporary goat markets during Bakri Eid for the past several years. Residents allege that the activity creates multiple civic and hygiene-related problems in the locality.

The forum highlighted major concerns including:

Traffic congestion and parking issues:

Residents claimed that a large number of traders and visitors arrive from different parts of Pune and nearby towns, leading to severe traffic jams in the area. Due to lack of parking space, vehicles are allegedly parked haphazardly on roads, causing inconvenience to local citizens.

Garbage and sanitation problems:

The complaint states that waste generated from fodder, animal feed, leaves and other materials is often dumped on roadsides, creating unhygienic conditions. Residents alleged that the entire area becomes littered with garbage, affecting cleanliness and public health.

The Kausar Baug Residents Forum has urged PMC officials not to grant permission for the proposed bakra market this year and to take into consideration the inconvenience faced by local residents.
