The victim, identified as Rohit Sakharam Happe, was returning home from work when a speeding SUV collided with him from behind. The driver of the car involved in the accident fled the scene immediately after the collision along with the car. The police have initiated an investigation, but as of now, the driver has not been identified. Authorities are combing through CCTV footage from the area to track down the vehicle and its driver.
This incident adds to a troubling trend of hit-and-run cases in the region. Earlier this week, another severe accident occurred in Mumbai’s Goregaon area, where a speeding SUV driven by a 17-year-old crashed into a milk vendor’s two-wheeler, resulting in the vendor’s death. The teenage driver, along with two others, was later arrested.
The rise in such incidents has raised concerns about road safety and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future.
