Kondhwa Hit-and-Run: 60-Year-Old Woman Loses Leg After Being Hit By Speeding Car, Driver Flees
Pune, June 1, 2026: A hit-and-run case has been reported in the Kondhwa area, where a 60-year-old woman sustained grievous injuries after being allegedly struck by a speeding car. The victim’s son has filed a complaint against the driver, accusing him of fleeing the scene without offering assistance.
According to a complaint made to the Kondhwa Police Station by Basavaraj Dursha Karadkale (30), a resident of Krishnanagar, Mohamedwadi, his mother, Mahadevi Dursha Karadkale (60), works as a caretaker at a residence on NIBM Road.
The incident reportedly occurred on May 31, 2026, between 8:20 am and 8:30 am, near the Lonkar garden road leading towards NIBM from the Salunke Vihar area. Karadkale stated that he received a phone call informing him that his mother had met with an accident. He rushed to the spot and found his mother injured and her leg bleeding profusely. Witnesses informed him that she had been hit by a black Tata Harrier (registration number MH 12 TK 0507). The vehicle’s right side was reportedly damaged in the collision.
The complainant alleged that the vehicle was being driven by Jairaj Pawar, who was allegedly driving at high speed and in a negligent manner. He further claimed that after causing the accident, the driver left the scene without helping the injured woman.
The victim was shifted by ambulance to a hospital near NIBM Road for medical care. According to the statement, her left leg had to be amputated from the thigh, and she remains under treatment.
Based on the complaint, the family has sought action against the driver for rash and negligent driving and for allegedly fleeing after the accident. Kondhwa Police Station officials are investigating the case further and shall register the FIR.
