Pune: Viman Nagar Residents Give PMC Three-Day Ultimatum To Fix Airport Road Sewage Overflow, Warn Of Protest
Pune, July 20, 2026: Residents of Viman Nagar have raised serious concerns over a persistent sewage overflow on Airport Road near Survey No. 235, Sunset Boulevard Road, alleging that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has failed to address the issue despite repeated complaints.
According to local residents, contaminated drainage water has been flowing onto the main road for several days, creating foul odour, unhygienic conditions, and severe inconvenience for commuters and nearby residents.
The matter was brought to the attention of social activist and Pune Panther Sena founder-president Sachin Bhosale after citizens claimed their repeated appeals to civic officials and elected representatives had gone unanswered. Initially, Bhosale advised residents to continue pursuing the issue through the PMC and public representatives. However, residents reportedly told him that all attempts had failed and sought his intervention as a last resort.
Residents allege that the stagnant water consists of sewage and toilet waste, posing a serious public health risk. The overflowing drain has affected pedestrians, women, senior citizens, office-goers, and motorists using the busy Airport Road stretch.
Bhosale has since lodged an online complaint with the PMC and issued a three-day ultimatum to the civic administration. He warned that if the drainage line is not repaired and the problem is not permanently resolved within the stipulated period, the Pune Panther Sena will stage a protest outside the Pune Municipal Corporation.
He further stated that the organisation would also bring samples of the contaminated sewage water to the PMC office as a symbolic protest against what it described as the administration’s inaction.
The Pune Panther Sena has urged the civic administration to treat the matter as a public health emergency and take immediate corrective measures.
