On 5th September, the Kondhwa Police registered an FIR & booked 3 people of Dreams Estate Society, in Hadapsar for disrespecting the Indian National Flag.

As per information from the FIR & complainant Deepak Iyer, a resident of Dreams Estate Society, the Dreams Estate society has a Varad Vinayak temple in the lawn area and there is a saffron flag in front of the temple. On 15th August 2023, the National Flag of India was hoisted at a distance of about 50 to 60 feet in front of the temple.

The national flag was hoisted by keeping it lower than the height of the saffron flag. No action was taken by the committee members to keep the height of the national flag higher than the saffron flag. Also, it came to the complainant’s notice on 3rd September 2023 that the society committee lowered the national flag used for hoisting the flag on 15/08/2023 after which the society committee members, without being properly folded, collected and rolled up, kept the national flag on a chair in the corner of the society’s club house. Therefore, the complainant has filed a legal complaint against 3 society committee members.

A committee member of the society informed Pune Pulse that the incident should have been brought to the notice of the committee and rectified the mistake.

The case is registered under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971. Further investigation is underway.
