Kondhwa Police seizes large firearms & 7 illegal pistols with 24 cartridges

Pune : The Kondhwa Police have seized 7 illegal pistols worth Rs 3.5 lakh along with 24 cartridges worth Rs 12,000 from 3 accused.

As per information from the Commissioner of Pune City Police had ordered to search and take action against the accused who were carrying firearms illegally in Pune.

Accordingly, Senior Police Inspector of Kondhwa Police Station Santosh Sonawane, Police Crime Inspector Sandeep Bhosale, and Sanjay Mogle had given instructions to the investigation team of Kondhwa Police Station. Hence, the investigation team officer Dinesh Patil and other staff of the investigation team were investigating the whereabouts of the accused on record. While conducting the search, Vishal Memane, an officer of the investigation team, received information that 2 out of the 3 accused were near a hotel at Bopdev Ghat. Hence, the investigation team went near the hotel along with their informer to nab the accused.

When the informer pointed out the accused standing there, they were caught and detained by the investigation team.

When the accused were being searched, one pistol was found on each of their waists and 3 cartridges were found in one’s pant pocket and 2 cartridges in one’s pocket. When they were asked about the firearms license and the reason for carrying firearms, they said that it was for self-defense & they didn’t have a license.

A case has been registered against the accused and arrested them for possession of illegal firearms, on further investigation, 3 more firearms and 9 cartridges were found.

In search of the 3rd accused, about whom the investigation team got to know that he was in Madhya Pradesh & his leader (Omkar Barnala) used to supply the firearms & cartridges to the 2 accused, 2 more firearms & 10 more cartridges, as a trap to catch him, were ordered.

To this, Omkar Barnala said that he would bring the said firearms & cartridges to Jalgaon district. Then, the staff of the Kondhwa investigation team laid a trap in Jalgaon to catch him. Omkar Barnala & the 3rd accused came to the said place in Jalgaon with the firearms & cartridges.

At that time, the investigation team nabbed the 3rd accused, however, Omkar Barnala fled from the spot.

The 3 accused have been identified as Sandesh aka Sanjay Jadhav, Shivaji aka Shiva Kudekar & Rahul Lingavale.

7 firearms worth Rs 3,50,000 and 24 cartridges worth Rs 12,000 have been seized. Further investigation is going on.
