Pune, June 15, 2025 – In a tragic incident, two people lost their lives and 32 others were injured after an old bridge over the Indrayani River collapsed at Kundmala, a popular tourist spot near Talegaon in Maval taluka. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar termed the incident “extremely painful” and assured that strict action would be taken following a detailed investigation.

Preliminary reports suggest that several tourists and locals were swept away by the strong river current when the decades-old bridge gave way. The incident occurred on a busy Sunday, with large crowds gathered at the site. Six people have been rescued so far, while rescue efforts continue to locate the missing.

Soon after the incident, local residents, police, and officials from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rushed to the scene and initiated relief operations.
