A major landslide occurred just before the new Katraj tunnel, significantly affecting road traffic. The landslide has covered nearly half the road. According to on-site personnel, the landslide happened during heavy overnight rain. Since morning, efforts have been underway to clear the debris.

For the past two days, continuous heavy rainfall has battered Western Maharashtra. Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and surrounding districts experienced intense downpours on Tuesday. The heaviest rainfall was recorded in Pimpri-Chinchwad at 101 mm. Other areas like Lonavala, Haveli, Girivan, Malin, and Purandar also witnessed substantial rain. On Wednesday, the intensity continued, particularly in rural regions of the district.
