Only 18.50% of water is remaining in the Bhama Askhed dam which is less than 19% of what it was at this time last year when 37.79% of the water resource was still in the dam. Khed, Shirur, Daund, Alandi and the eastern part of Pune used to get water from the Bhama Askhed Dam.

Also, during extremely hot summers, evaporation is considerable. As a result, the dam’s capacity to store water is rapidly declining. This dam will eventually provide water to the city of Pimpri Chinchwad. However, if the water is released it will further diminish the water levels.

Water consumption should be limited till the rainy season, pleaded Assistant Engineer (Category 1) Ashwin Pawar, Branch Engineer Nilesh Ghare and Canal Inspector Vasant Dhokere.
