Teen claims steering failure caused the crash; police probe under way to check for alcohol influence.

A 19-year-old, Dhruv Nalin Gupta, the son of a prominent businessman, has been booked for rash driving after a Porsche he was driving collided with five parked motorbikes near Sadhu Wasvani Chowk in Bandra at 2:40 am on Saturday. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Gupta, a resident of Vile Parle and a student, stated that the vehicle’s steering jammed, leading to the accident. According to the police, there were five occupants in the car, including four men and one woman. The speeding car came to a halt after hitting the footpath.

One of the bike owners whose vehicle was damaged, expressed frustration, claiming, “The police should have seized the car, but they allowed them to drive away. Were they let off because they are rich?”

CCTV footage from the area captured the incident and showed locals gathering at the site after hearing the loud crash. A police constable is also visible in the footage.

The Bandra police have sent Gupta’s blood samples for chemical analysis to determine if he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. A senior officer confirmed, “We rushed the driver to a government hospital to take blood samples and registered a case of rash driving. Investigations are ongoing.”

No arrests have been made, and the police are expected to take further action based on the results of the chemical analysis.
