LIC Introduces WhatsApp-Based Premium Payment Facility for Policyholders
The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has taken a significant step toward digital convenience by launching a new service that allows policyholders to pay their policy premiums directly through WhatsApp. Unveiled on May 9, 2025, this service is aimed at making the premium payment process more accessible and user-friendly for millions of LIC customers.
A Seamless Payment Journey Through WhatsApp
LIC has officially introduced a WhatsApp bot-based service accessible through the number 8976862090. This bot enables registered customers to check which of their policies are due for premium payment and proceed to make the payment using UPI, net banking, or cards — all within the WhatsApp chat itself. The entire customer journey, from policy identification to payment and receipt generation, takes place in a single interface, offering a smooth and hassle-free experience.
LIC’s Managing Director and CEO, Siddhartha Mohanty, stated that this digital service will significantly enhance convenience for customers, allowing them to manage their policies anytime and from anywhere. He emphasized that the widespread popularity of WhatsApp will make it a practical tool for ensuring efficiency, improving productivity, and delivering a better overall experience.
As of now, LIC’s customer portal boasts over 2.2 crore registered users, with more than 3 lakh logins daily for availing various services online.
