The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) recently announced that restrictions on filming movies, documentaries, and advertisements within the Namma Metro premises will be lifted. Filming will be permitted even during operational hours, but new guidelines have been introduced for filming within the metro premises and on the rolling trains.

Filmmakers must now pay a license fee of Rs 50,000 per hour, with a daily limit of Rs 6 lakh. They are also required to obtain BMRCL’s approval before public release by submitting the final film output. Indian nationals must request shooting 30 days in advance, while foreign nationals must do so 60 days ahead.

A detailed request must be provided with the request, which will be carefully examined to ensure it does not pose safety risks or disrupt train operation and passenger safety. Filming inside a running train during specific operational hours will incur a hire fee of Rs 40,000 per hour. For educational purposes, students will be charged a minimal fee of Rs 5,000 for filming.

As per the information received, Kannada films will receive a 25 percent discount on the suggested fee schedule. BMRCL officials announced the lifting of restrictions due to a surge in filming requests inside Metro stations and trains, following their implementation in 2019.
