Maharashtra bandh successful, says Mahavikas Aghadi

Condemning the attack on Lakhimpur Kheri farmer, Mahavikas Aghadi held a state wide bandh today on October 11, urging citizens to shut down their establishments. Indian National Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, Shivsena held protest rallies across Pune city areas.


The rally in Wanowrie saw presence of Prashant Jagtap, president, Nationalist Congress Party Pune, Sahil Shivaji Kedari, president, OBC Cell Pune City District Congress Committee and others urging shopkeepers to keep their shops shut. The city wide traders association also supported the bandh by keeping their shops shut till 3 pm today. 


Prashant Jagtap, president Pune City, Nationalist Congress Party said, “The bandh called by the Mahavikas Aghadi has been successful. There have been no reports of any violence. With this bandh we want to show the Modi government that we will not tolerate any injustice to anyone.” 

Sahil Kedari president OBC Cell Pune City District Congress Committee said, “Shopkeepers in Wanowrie as well as aross the city and Maharashtra supported the bandh completely. There were no incidents of forcefully shutting down or any sort of violence we urged shopkeepers to shutdown their shops to which they supported.”

While Bharatiya Janata Party’s, Pune city president, Jagdish Mulik on the Maharashtra bandh called by the Mahavikas Aghadi said, “This Bandh is not to condemn the attack on the farmers but to cover up the scams which have been limelight for quite some time now. We appeal to the Pune Police as well as the shopkeepers to report any incident wherein the shopkeepers are threatened and forcefully close their shops.”

Rahul Jagtap, Prafful Jambhulkar, Ravindra Jambhulkar, Omkar Jagtap, Kevin Manuel, Milan Andrade had participated in the rally held in Wanowrie.
