Solapur teen’s minimum passing marks spark joyous rally, sweets, and pride across neighbourhood

In an inspiring story from Solapur, Maharashtra, a Class 10 student has captured public attention—not for topping the CBSE board exams, but for passing them against all odds. Shivam Waghmare, a student of Siddheshwar Balak Mandir School, scored the minimum passing marks of 35% in each subject in the CBSE Class 10 exams, yet his community celebrated his success with garlands, sweets, and cheers.

Unlike the typical celebrations reserved for high achievers, Shivam’s result was met with overwhelming joy from his family and neighbours. Locals came together in a festive rally, placing flower garlands around the teenager’s neck, offering sweets, and showering blessings to mark what they considered a major milestone.

“I never imagined I’d score 35 marks in every subject,” Shivam told India Today. “It was a shock for me. But I’m glad, and I’ll try harder next time. I want to join an ITI.”

His father, overwhelmed with emotion, shared the family’s disbelief. “We were prepared for failure. But Shivam passed, and for us, that is a huge achievement. We are truly happy.”

The CBSE Class 10 results were declared on May 13, 2025. Over 18 lakh students appeared for the exams held from February 15 to March 18. This year, the Class 12 pass percentage stood at 88.39% among more than 16 lakh students.

Shivam’s story is a powerful reminder that success is not always defined by top ranks. In a results-driven education system, his journey highlights the importance of resilience, family support, and community pride. His modest yet meaningful accomplishment reflects the spirit of perseverance—and reminds us that every step forward deserves recognition.
