A significant power outage hit Pune’s Bhosari and Moshi areas on the night of May 15, after two high-capacity transformers at the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company’s (Mahapareshan) 220/22 kV substation in Bhosari tripped due to a technical fault. The incident occurred around 9:00 PM, disrupting electricity supply to nearly 80,000 residential, commercial, and industrial consumers

The malfunction affected eight substations under MSEDCL and 15 power feeders, plunging several areas—including Bhosari, Dudulgaon, Chikhali, Morevasti, Mohannagar, and parts of the MIDC sectors—into darkness. Key locations such as Gharkul, Jai Ganesh Samrajya, Nashik Highway, and PMAY housing projects also experienced the outage.

MSEDCL engineers acted swiftly, restoring the first transformer by 10:00 PM and the second by 10:30 PM. Full power was reinstated across all impacted areas by 11:00 PM.

A senior MSEDCL official confirmed that efforts were made to stabilise the power supply quickly to reduce inconvenience. An internal investigation has been launched to identify the exact cause of the fault and implement preventive measures to avoid future disruptions.

Despite the disruption, no major incidents were reported, and normalcy resumed shortly after restoration.
