As per the schedule, the filing of nomination papers will take place from December 23 to December 30, 2025. The scrutiny of nominations will be conducted on December 31, 2025, following which candidates will have the option to withdraw their nominations on January 2, 2026.
The final list of candidates along with the allotment of election symbols will be published on January 3, 2026. Polling for all 29 municipal corporations will be held on January 15, 2026, while the counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on January 16, 2026.
The announcement has officially sounded the election bugle for civic bodies in Maharashtra, bringing an end to prolonged anticipation surrounding the polls. Political parties are now expected to intensify preparations, including candidate selection, campaigning and alliance negotiations in the coming days.
The civic elections are considered crucial as municipal corporations play a key role in urban governance, including infrastructure development, public services and local administration. With voting just a month away, the focus is now set to shift towards electoral strategies and voter outreach across the state’s urban centres.
