Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a significant visit to Yavatmal on the 28th of February, where he is slated to participate in a gathering of a women’s self-help group, anticipated to draw a crowd of over two lakh women.
The preparations for Modi’s visit, orchestrated by Shinde’s Shiv Sena in collaboration with the Bharatiya Janata Party, were extensive. An expansive venue spanning 9 lakh square feet had been earmarked for the event, equipped with numerous chairs to accommodate the attendees. However, a peculiar sight greeted the organizers as they discovered that a considerable number of these chairs bore the images of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The venue boasts an auditorium sprawling across 47 acres, where approximately two lakh chairs have been arranged. Surprisingly, a subset of these chairs featured photographs of Rahul Gandhi affixed to them. Notable figures such as Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar, and several cabinet ministers are expected to grace the occasion alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The presence of Rahul Gandhi’s images on the chairs stemmed from their prior use at one of his meetings in Nagpur. These chairs, transported to Yavatmal by the contractor, retained the stickers bearing Rahul Gandhi’s likeness. Consequently, inadvertently or otherwise, the campaign imagery of Rahul Gandhi found an unexpected platform, sparking questions about its removal before the commencement of Modi’s meeting at 4 pm.
The juxtaposition of Modi’s gathering with the inadvertent promotion of his political adversary has stirred controversy and speculation about the handling of the situation before the scheduled event.
