Maharashtra Govt Allocates ₹80 Crore For Enhanced Security Measures On Pune’s Hills
Maharashtra Economy Witnesses Growth To 7.9% In 2025-26, GSDP Projected At ₹51 Lakh Crore
Following the Bopdev Ghat incident, the Maharashtra government has approved ₹80 crore to enhance security on Pune’s hills. This initiative, aimed at curbing crimes like robbery and assault, was announced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The funding will support security measures across 22 hills in the city, with the first phase covering 12 key locations over the next six months.
As part of the plan, 600 advanced CCTV cameras, including 200 AI-powered rotating (PTZ) cameras, will be installed. Additionally, ‘panic buttons’ will be placed on hills, directly alerting the police control room in case of emergencies. Enhanced lighting with 177 floodlights and a public address system will further bolster safety.
To improve law enforcement efficiency, drones and patrol vehicles will also be deployed. This comprehensive security setup aims to make Pune’s hills safer for residents and visitors alike.
