Maharashtra Govt To Set Up CIIIT Centers In Every District For Youth Skill Development And Tech Training
A review meeting was held today regarding the progress of setting up CI3T (Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training) centers across Maharashtra. The government has directed that immediate steps be taken to establish at least one such center in every district to provide modern, employment-oriented training to the state’s youth.
The goal is to equip young people with globally relevant, advanced skills in areas like AI, automation, robotics, and machine learning , making them more employable. Currently, CI3T centers have been approved in 10 locations , and plans are underway to coordinate with Tata Group to set up similar centers in the remaining 26 districts .
These centers aim to create a skilled workforce, support new entrepreneurs, and lay the foundation for an industry-friendly ecosystem in every district. MIDC (Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation) has been instructed to allocate land for these centers near urban areas for better accessibility. Each district’s District Planning Committee will contribute 15% of the required funding , while MIDC will provide funds for the center in Raigad .
The initiative is expected to significantly boost skill development, employment, and self-employment opportunities across Maharashtra.
