Mumbai, June 25, 2025: Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday directed officials to develop a dedicated app for women in Mumbai to access all government schemes in one place. The move aims to simplify access to benefits and boost women’s empowerment under the recently launched Fourth Women’s Policy 2024.

Speaking at the district-level steering committee meeting for the policy’s implementation, Shinde emphasized that various departments must work together to create an enabling environment for women and girls across the state.

Key focus areas under the policy include:

IMG-20250324-WA0012
  • Building hostels for working women
  • Setting up daycare centres for children
  • Supporting women’s self-help groups in slum areas
  • Providing rotational stalls for SHGs
  • Promoting tourism projects to increase women’s involvement
  • Implementing schemes for tribal and women fishermen
  • Addressing housing issues and improving health facilities for women

Shinde also stressed the importance of taking strict action against violence towards women. He called for a supportive environment in police stations so women feel safe and confident while filing complaints.

“The state is moving quickly to address women’s complaints. Mumbai should lead by example in implementing these initiatives. Women must have a strong role in achieving Maharashtra’s goal of becoming a one trillion-dollar economy,” he said.

The proposed app will aim to bring all women-centric welfare schemes, safety features, and complaint support under one digital platform for easy access.
