Maharashtra : Hostel Director’s Late-Night Fiasco Sends Girls into Panic

In the early hours of Monday, chaos erupted in a girls’ hostel located in Rachnakar Colony near the railway station of Chattrapati Sambhaji Nagar. The hostel director, in a dispute over money, caused a disturbance and threatened the residents, leaving them terrified.

The hostel, managed by a man from Latur, accommodates around 55 students under a rental agreement. Trouble arose when the director, in pursuit of unpaid fees, forcefully banged on the door of a girl’s room around 2 am. Despite repeated demands, the girl, fearing for her safety, refused to open the door.

Failing to resolve the issue, the director resorted to sending numerous messages to the girl. Eventually, she contacted her cousin for help, who was denied entry when he arrived at the hostel. Concerned neighbours alerted the Vedantnagar police, leading to the director’s arrest.

Although the residents declined to file a complaint, the police intervened and subsequently released the director after a warning. However, fearing for their daughter’s safety, some parents opted to take their children home, deeming the hostel insecure.

The police made an effort to offer food and lodging to those who stayed at the hostel, waiting for their parents to arrive. The director is currently on the run from the authorities. However, his wife has been called in by the police and has promised to pay the unpaid fees as compensation.
