The upcoming Lok Sabha election promises an intense showdown within the Maval constituency, where the Shiv Sena finds itself deeply divided between two rival factions. Maval, encompassing six crucial Assembly segments, commands a substantial voting bloc, with a total of 25,09,461 eligible voters.

Among this electorate, 13,10,434 identify as males, 11,98,868 as females, while 159 individuals identify as belonging to the third gender. Furthermore, the electoral landscape includes 632 overseas voters and 751 service voters, adding layers of complexity to the contest.

Overseas voters, consisting of 495 males and 137 females, are dispersed across various assembly segments, with concentrations notably in Panvel and Chinchwad. These overseas voters are Indian citizens residing abroad, drawn for diverse reasons such as employment and education. In contrast, service voters encompass members of the Armed Forces and government personnel. Of the 751 service voters, 716 are males and 35 are females, strategically stationed across different segments to exercise their electoral rights.

The political landscape in Maval, historically a stronghold for the Shiv Sena, is now embroiled in internal strife as conflicting factions prepare for electoral combat. The contest pits Eknath Shinde’s faction of the Shiv Sena against the group led by Uddhav Thackeray. Shrirang Barne, a two-time incumbent MP, secures his nomination from the Shinde camp, while the Thackeray faction presents Sanjog Waghere, former mayor of Pimpri-Chinchwad, as their contender.

With the stage set for a riveting electoral clash, voters across Maval brace themselves to cast their ballots on the decisive day of May 13th.
