Maharashtra: MSRTC Introduces GPS-Enabled App for Real-Time Bus Information
The Maharashtra State Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has introduced a new app designed to enhance passenger convenience by providing real-time information about Lalpari (ST) buses. This innovative app, developed using the Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, allows passengers to track the live location of buses from their homes. By addressing the common concern of knowing when the bus will arrive at the station, the app aims to significantly improve the travel experience.
One of the app’s primary features is its ability to provide real-time answers to questions such as the bus’s current location, estimated arrival time at the station, and stops along the route. Named Vehicle Tracking System and MSRTC Computer, the app is designed to make journeys smoother and more informed for passengers. It also offers additional features like ticket reservation, detailed bus route information, women’s safety measures, assistance for vehicle breakdowns, medical aid, and support in case of accidents.
To access these features, passengers can download the app from the Play Store, where it is available in both Marathi and English, ensuring ease of use. The app includes an online feedback and complaint registration system, allowing passengers to report issues and provide feedback conveniently. This functionality is designed to enhance the overall passenger experience and ensure that any concerns are addressed promptly.
A depot manager from Jafarabad, has emphasized the importance of downloading and using the app to avoid any inconvenience during travel. He also highlighted the additional facilities provided by the ST Corporation, which are intended to make bus travel more comfortable and hassle-free. By utilizing the app, passengers can take full advantage of the services offered by MSRTC.
Key features of the MSRTC app include live location tracking, which allows passengers to view the real-time location of their buses, and ticket reservation capabilities. The app provides detailed route information, ensuring passengers are well-informed about their journey. Safety features include the ability for women to contact emergency services (100 or 103) if they face any trouble during their journey. In case of vehicle breakdowns or accidents, the app provides immediate assistance. Additionally, a special column for registering complaints has been included, categorized by passenger carrier-driver, bus status, service, driving, and app functionality. To file a complaint, users need to provide their mobile number and vehicle (ST) number.
This new initiative by MSRTC is expected to significantly benefit passengers by offering comprehensive information and support, ensuring a safer and more convenient travel experience.
