Maharashtra: Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Gaimukh Ghat Blocks Ghodbunder Road
Thane’s Ghodbunder Road witnessed major disruption on Friday morning after a multi-vehicle accident on National Highway 48 (NH-48) near Gaimukh Ghat. The accident took place around 7 am and involved at least 12 vehicles, including a heavy container truck, leaving four people injured.
The collision, which occurred at a sharp curve, severely affected traffic movement towards Borivali and Gujarat, leading to long queues and delays during office hours. Commuters reported significant inconvenience as vehicles remained stuck for extended periods.
Emergency teams from the RDMC, Fire Brigade and traffic police reached the spot to manage rescue operations and clear the damaged vehicles. Despite the intensity of the crash, no fatalities were reported. The cause of the accident is under investigation, with factors like speeding or low visibility suspected.
Authorities have advised motorists to avoid the Gaimukh Ghat stretch until traffic normalises.
