Maharashtra signs MoU for 5220 MW Renewable Power Generation Projects

Pune: In a major initiative, Maha Nirmiti, Mahatma Phule Agricultural University, Maha Urja and Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVN) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for power generation of 5 thousand 220 MW capacity. As per information, about Rs 41 thousand crores have been invested and 6 thousand 760 jobs will be created through this.

It is worthy to note that an MoU was signed between Mahanirmiti, Mahatma Phule Agricultural University, Mahaurja and SJVN at Sahyadri guest house on Wednesday in the presence of Fadnavis, Abha Shukla, Principal Secretary, Energy Department, Lokesh Chandra, Chairman and Managing Director of Mahavitaran, P Anbalgan, Chairman and Managing Director of Mahagenco, Geeta Kapoor, Chief Managing Director of Sutlej Hydro Nigam Limited, Dr Shrikar Pardeshi, Deputy Chief Minister’s Secretary, Dr Prashant Patil,  Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Phule Agricultural University, and other top officials were present.

Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis said that to promote energy projects, more emphasis is being laid on setting up solar, wind and renewable energy projects in the state.

Central and state governments are promoting renewable energy projects. By 2030, 50 percent of the installed capacity is to be met by renewable energy. Energy stability requires large amounts of energy storage. For that, Maha Nirmiti should speed up the construction of solar, water, wind and solar projects, directed Devendra Fadnavis.

For Mahatma Phule Agricultural University, Rahuri

In the 400 acres area of Mahatma Phule Agricultural University at Rahuri in Ahmednagar district, solar power projects of 100 MW capacity will be developed. To reduce the electricity bills of the university, independent solar power projects by Maha Nirmiti of 500 KW capacity will also be set up in the university premises. The project is expected to cost Rs 472.19 crores.

Maha Urja – Pune (Maharashtra Power Development Agency)

Solar power projects of 25.6 MW capacity at Chalkewadi on the premises of Maharashtra Energy Development Agency will be developed for which Rs 518 crores will be invested.

Under Sutlej Jalvidyut Nigam Limited

Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited and Maha Nirmiti will set up renewable energy projects with a capacity of 5,000 MW. In this, an investment of Rs 40 thousand crores will be made for setting up solar, water, wind and hydropower projects.
