The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will celebrate World Tourism Day 2024 on September 27 with a series of events. This year’s theme, “Tourism & Peace,” was announced by the United Nations Tourism. The official Global Tourism Day will be observed in Tbilisi, Georgia.

In alignment with the theme, MTDC’s regional offices, tourist residences, restaurants, boat clubs, and craft villages will host various tourism-related activities. Under the guidance of Managing Director Manoj Kumar Suryavanshi, the corporation will organize events across its facilities to mark the occasion.

Regional managers will host discussions with local dignitaries, tourism experts, and professionals from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM. The focus will be on “Tourism & Peace,” featuring talks and lectures at colleges. An essay competition will be held with topics such as “Tourism as a Tool for Peace,” and “Maharashtra’s Tourist Spots and Their Peace Messages.” Winners will receive various prizes, including accommodation and meals at MTDC facilities.

Additionally, a painting competition for students will be organized, with certificates and prizes for the top entries. The day will also feature the release of new brochures for MTDC’s tourist residences and eco-friendly banners at all MTDC locations.

Tourists staying at MTDC accommodations will be welcomed with flowers and World Tourism Day greetings. Activities such as traditional games, local cuisine, and experiential tourism, including nature walks and treks, will be available. Regional Manager Deepak Harane encourages everyone to participate in the celebrations and enjoy the unique environment.
