In a surprise raid late Sunday night, Pimpri Chinchwad police recovered nearly Rs 37 lakh from the office of a political party worker at Somatane near Talegaon Dabhade. The office, belonging to a land dealer who is also a political party worker, was searched after police received a tip-off about a large quantity of cash being stored there.

According to officials, the police team seized Rs 36.90 lakh after the land dealer failed to provide details about the cash. “We informed the Election Commission and income tax department about the seized cash,” said a Pimpri Chinchwad police official.

The sudden seizure has raised questions about the source of the funds and whether they are linked to any election-related activities. With the Election Commission and income tax department now involved, further investigations are expected to uncover the truth behind this significant cash haul.
