Satara, Maharashtra, June 30 : A Warkari was killed on the spot while seven others were injured in a road accident in Maharashtra’s Satara district on Thursday, police said.

Kalyan Bhosale, a farmer from Gujarwadi in Koregaon tehsil, was on his way to Pandharpur by car, along with seven others for a glimpse of Lord Vithoba on account of ‘Ashadhi Ekadas’.

According to the police, when the driver tried to overtake another car at Lodhvade village, the vehicle skidded off the road and overturned four times before landing in an agricultural land. Bhosale died on the spot, while the seven other Warkaris in the car sustained injuries.

The injured have been admitted to Satara hospital.
Warkaris are a religious community within the bhakti spiritual tradition of Hinduism, inhabiting Maharashtra.
