Maharashtra, April 9, 2026:

A fresh weather alert has been issued for Maharashtra, with the next 24 hours considered critical as the state braces for a dual impact of intense heat and isolated thunderstorms, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for April 10 in four coastal districts—Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, and Ratnagiri—warning of high humidity and rising temperatures. Maximum temperatures in Mumbai are expected to range between 34°C and 38°C, with oppressive conditions due to moisture in the air.

In parts of western Maharashtra, including Kolhapur, Satara, Solapur, and Sangli, no official alert has been issued. However, changing weather patterns are expected, with cloudy conditions developing in the afternoon and chances of light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Farmers have been advised to take necessary precautions to protect crops.

In the Marathwada region, districts like Latur and Dharashiv may experience a mix of heat and scattered rainfall. Light to moderate showers with thunder are likely during evening hours, which could bring slight relief from high temperatures.

Meanwhile, most parts of Vidarbha are expected to remain dry, with no rainfall forecast. Temperatures in the region may soar between 39°C and 43°C, while minimum temperatures could range from 25°C to 28°C. Authorities have warned of continued heatwave-like conditions and urged residents to take precautions against heat exposure.

North Maharashtra is also likely to witness dry weather with rising temperatures. Daytime temperatures may hover between 38°C and 43°C, while nighttime temperatures are expected to remain between 24°C and 27°C. Residents have been advised to avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours and to stay hydrated.
